The Meadoway is bringing nature back into city living by transforming 16km of hydro corridor lands into an urban greenspace, meadowlands, community space and trail system.

Come out on Sunday September 22, 2019 to experience what The Meadoway has to offer and see the future potential of this community powered greenspace. Visitors will have the opportunity to enjoy activities such as nature hikes, bike tours, meadow plantings, live bird demonstrations, educational and interactive displays, and more.

Kids, don’t forget to pick up a passport at the information booth to participate in a scavenger hunt for a chance to win a prize! Please note that some activities require registration. Activities are subject to change.


Nature Walks

Nature walk in The Meadoway

Join a guided walk to learn more about the plants and wildlife that call The Meadoway home!

Start Times: 11:00 a.m., 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m.
Duration: 30 minutes
Difficulty: Easy — along a paved, relatively flat multi-use trail and some natural paths through the meadow where uneven ground may be encountered

Bike Tours

Bike The Meadoway and experience how this 16km stretch of hydro land can be enjoyed by humans, plants and wildlife!

Start Times: 11:00 a.m., 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m.
Duration: 30-40 minutes
Difficulty: Easy — along a paved, relatively flat multi-use trail; some road crossings will be encountered.

  • Participants must bring their own bike and safety equipment.
  • Dress appropriately for the bike tour and weather.
  • This tour may not be suitable for very young children.

Help restore the meadow and participate in a guided meadow planting!  Participants will have the opportunity to plant native meadow flowers and plants that will be enjoyed by people, insects and wildlife for years to come!

Start Times: 11:00 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 12:00 p.m. and 12:30 p.m.
Duration: 30 minutes
Difficulty: Easy to moderate — within an established meadow, along relatively flat land

  • Please dress appropriately for the planting and weather.

This event is outdoors; please dress accordingly. In the event of adverse weather conditions, the event may be canceled. In this case, a cancellation notice will be posted to this website.
