About The Meadoway
The Meadoway is transforming a hydro corridor in Scarborough into a vibrant 16-kilometre stretch of urban greenspace and meadowlands that will become one of Canada’s largest linear urban parks.
Cyclists and pedestrians will soon be able to travel from the heart of downtown Toronto to Rouge National Urban Park without ever leaving nature.
Over the next seven years, this site will become a place filled with butterflies, birds and wildflowers – a rich meadow landscape realized on a scale never before seen in Toronto.
A Ground-Breaking Initiative
The Meadoway will connect 7 river and ravine systems, 15 parks, 16 kilometres of trail, 13 neighbourhoods, over 200 hectares of meadow, and more than 1,000 diverse species of flora and fauna.
This innovative city-building initiative will also connect schools, businesses, hospitals and trails.
It’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to revitalize the natural landscape and change how we move through our city.
The Meadoway is being led by Toronto and Region Conservation Authority (TRCA) and the Toronto and Region Conservation Foundation in partnership with the City of Toronto and Hydro One, and is made possible through the generous support of the Weston Family Foundation.
